Lakevnder Chicken A Black White Dual Puprose Chciken

 Lakevender is a dual purpose chciken that provides both meat and eggs. This is not "pescial " chicken, compared to other chicken such as Rhode Islan Red, New Hampsire Chicken, Bared Rock, Plymouth Rock and other. THe Lakenvder is know by its black and white color. The neck and tail feather is black in color, whil ethe remain or the modle of chicken body is greysih white. The lakenvender also name of some animal which has middle boy is white for example, lakenvender goat and cattle.

The lakenvener is almost similair to Vorwersl. Both chikben breed has black colori ini tail and the neck. The Vorwerk body color is buff; while lakenvender is white. 

Lakevender come from German and Ducth border. The greman develop this bird or chciken from various chciken such as leghorn and other. the characteristics of leghorn that we can find in lakenveder is white earlobe. the lakenvender also have single bllod red comb with some point. 

Lakebvder lays white shelled egg 160 eggs a year. The rosster weighs 2,5 while the hen weighs 2 kilogram. The skin is alsi white. there is ni bantam version of the chciken. The shank is feathherless amd blue pale io color.

Cross local chicken to US Standard Chicken

My country is is not a  developed country as United States or other country which has chicken standard. In other words, our country is under deliver country. I amazed that United States has dozen standard Chicken. I believe my country Indonesia where the home of the parents of All Chicken Red Jungle fowl has so many breed chicken. Unfortunately, we have no standard for the chicken. Indonesia has Most expensive Chicken Cemani and the big beautiful song crower Pelung. 

With limited scientist , we develop some breed of chicken but we do not have standard of the chicken so the outside use our chicken and claim as a new breed. Unfortunately, for the Indonesian people who do not make some standard for its Chicken. 

Some chicken owner also , cross the chicken . I also have the Sebrught bantam that is crossed to local native bantam. I suspect the chicken is sterile. The roster cannot produce any chick. I heard from the genetics expert that some Cross breed cannot produce the kid. That is why you should be careful when cross the chicken to make a new breed. 

I also join the hybrid chicken group in Facebook. The group is a market pace for crossbreed chicken. I saw there some unique chicken and it is a new opportunity of a business. The price is higher than the common or standard breed of chicken.

Last days, I saw two big rosters that I suspected it crossbreed. I estimate those two buff chicken is descent of Rhode Island. In my country there some chicken breed that is similiar to Rhodes Island Breed such as Ayam Merawang from Bangka and Ayam Nununkan from Kalimantan . 

Pavlovskaya Chicken from Russia

Rusia is a cold region. Most chicken is not fit with cold region and only few chicken that can stand the worst climate. One of the chicken is Pavlova that was breed in 18th centuries by Pavlova. The chciken is similiar to Poland Chicken which has some crested above the head. 

The smal pea comb does not affect the chicken. In cold climate. Most a wide comb chicken does not fit to the cold region. This chicken only has single wattles that is not found in most chicken. I just know the green jungle fowl also has single wattles. 

The chicken is docile and east to hand. The chciken is good alternative as your pet in backyard. They are not good layer however they can hatch the egg by themself.  

The rosters weighs 2,5 kilograms, he weighs 1,5kilogram. The egg os only 50 gram. There are some vanriety color such as 

Schweizer Chicken, The Swiss Chicken

Swiss also has chicken breed that is called Schweizer Chicken. Schweizer is German language for Swiss. The bird was established at German-speaking area in Swiss at 1910.
The chicken is heavy. The rooster weighs 2.8 - 3.5 kilogram and the hen weighs 2.4-2.8 kilogram. The hen play 170-200 eggs a year. The egg is big enough, weighing 55 gram.
It is white snow in color. The shank is white pinkish. The plumage is thick. The sickle feather is perfecly curved.

 
It is a descendant of Wyandotte and Orpington Chicken. The Swiss rarely we found today. People may prefer other chicken breed than the Swiss.
The comb is big pea. Below the beak, it has double red blood wattles. The beak is horn in color.
The performance is almost similar to Orpington. It has round body.

the chicken can adapt the cold climate in Swiss. The pea comb is also resistant from frostbite that could happen in cold area. 
Due its weighs and its egg production, this chicken is dual purpose chicken.

Buckeye: The only American Chicken breed that is created by woman

Buckeye is an American chicken breed that has heavy body. The Rooster weighs approximately 9 pounds (4.1 kg); while, the female approximately weighs 6.5 lbs (3 kg). The chicken shape is round, like other American heavy class chicken breed. The breast is wide and it looks handsome like Cornish Chicken. The Feet looks strong and is white or yellow in color.
The feather chicken is mahogany in color; while, the tail is black in color. It has thick feathering. The chick color is buff. The sickle tail is short like other heavy chicken class. The body of the chicken is round.
The performance is almost similar to Rhode Island Red. However, this chicken is different if you can see the difference carefully. The buckeye color is darker than the red. As I mentioned above, this chicken appears very close to Cornish. Of course, the Cornish has wider breast.
The head is proportional with its body. It has small pea comb upside the head and it is the only American chicken breed that has small pea. We know most of American class breed has single comb such as Rhode Island Red, New Hampshire Red, Jersey Giant, and else.
The chicken has been breed by Mrs. Nettie Metcalf. She is the only woman that produce American Chicken breed. She crossed some chicken breed such as Barred Plymouth Rock, Buff Cochins, and black breasted Games. For first trial, he crossed Buff Cochin male to Barred Plymouth Rock Female. The descendant did not satisfy him. Next years, she crossed the descendant to Black breasted Red game that produced the red offspring. She developed the red become the buckeye.
She has bred the chicken in order to make the best dual purpose chicken. It has good meat and laying ability. Unfortunately, I do not know see any reference about the egg production. The hen lays brown medium size eggs. This chicken has been popular before Rhode Island Red founded.
The chicken is rare species. Only few farmers care this chicken.
This chicken is good forager so it is good to control your weed or grass population. This chicken is suitable for your backyard due it is tame and easy to hand. This chicken also tolerate with hot summer and cold winter or extreme weather.
I am afraid this chicken is aggressive like the ancestor black breasted game. There is no reference that the chicken is aggressive. Perhaps Mrs. Metcalf has selected the aggressive chicken from the breed.

Norfolk Grey : The Rare Chicken Breed from English

Norfolk Grey is a chicken breed from United Kingdom. The breed was created at the time of the world war by Fred Myhill. The bird was called Black Maria due its black feather color.
The chicken is heavy enough. A rooster weighs 6-7 pounds while the female weighs 5-6 pounds. The Chicken is beautiful with the silver plumage. Either Roosters or hen has silver feather in neck. Surely the Rooster has shimmering color. The Silver feather of rooster is also in its shoulder, back, and saddle. The color of the rooster is silver duckwing. The small chicken has not yet had the silver color or birchen. It just has black soft feather.
No one sure the ancestor about this breed but Wikipedia say that the chicken is the descendant of birchen English Game and Partridge Wyandotte.
The Grey is good to produce meat and carcass due it is also the descendant of game fowl. Surely, this leghorn descendant also lays so many eggs. Unfortunately, I have no reference the egg production of the hens. This chicken population is rare. Only few farmers raise the chicken
This chicken breed is also good for backyard. It is a good forager that can eat the weed and grass in backyard. There is also bantam version of the chicken with one color variation only.

Sussex Chicken : The Oldest dual-purpose chicken in England

As where it’s get name, Sussex chicken comes from Sussex, England. This chicken is believed as the first chicken breed in England. The chicken is a popular chicken breed in the world.

They have at least eight color variations such as, Brown, white, speckled, buff, light, red, silver, and coronation. The coronation color is the latest color of the Sussex; while, the white is the most rare Sussex.
The chicken has single wide comb and the earlobes are red. The eye is orange to yellow. The feet are yellow without feathers on it.

This chicken is so fat weighing 4.1 kg; while, the hen is only 2.5 kilogram. The cockerel or the teenage male is 3.5 kilogram while the teenage female is 2.5 kilogram.Due its heavy body, this chicken is risen for its meats beside the eggs. The skin si yellow that people likes it very much.

This chicken is good for your backyard.

Red Cap Derbyshire : Triple Purpose chicken from Derbyshire, England

Redcap Derbyshire is a Chicken breed from Derbyshire, England. The chicken is the dexcendant of so many chicken breed such as Golden Spangled Hamburg, Dorking, Old English Pheasant Fowl, and Black Breasted Red Games.
The Redcap has rose comb that is length 7 cm. The cap looks beautiful. Derbyshire color is black breasted red or partridge. The sickle feather is short like other England chicken breed. Both female has similar to its crescent tail feather.
It looks fat due its thick feather. The roosters weigh 4.1 kilogram and the hen weighs 3.4 kilogram. The young rooster or cockerel can reach weighs 3.7 kilogram, meanwhile the hen weighs 3.1 kilogram. This is a heavy chicken that can produce meat and eggs well. Due to its beautiful feather and crown, this chicken is considered as exhibition chicken.
It is docile and can adapt easily. This chicken is also good for your backyard. However, the hen does not go broody.

Vorwerk Chicken : Germany dual purpose chicken with beautiful dark golden feather

Oscar Vorwerk, an Germany chicken breeder, has developed a chicken breed that is called Vorwerk. This chicken has wonderful dark golden color. The head, and neck toward to shoulder is dark brown and color. The tail is also brown in color and the remain feather is buff in color. Mr Vorwerk has developed this chicken from various chicken breed such as Buff Orpington, Lakenvender, Buff Sussex, and Andalusian. I think the buff color generate from Orpington and Sussex, while the dark color is generate from Andalusian. i love the combination black and brown in this chicken. 

Like Europe Chicken Class, Vorwerk is fat with thick plumage. The Vorwerk is blocky build in shape. The thick plumage   can cover the chicken skin from the winter. This chicken is well-adaptable with bad weather. The rooster is 2.5 - 3.2 kilogram, while the hen is 2-2.5 kg in weight. Vorwek is also available in Bantam version, which is 650-765 in weight. The chicken has wide and long breast. It also produce much meat.

Vorwerk also produce much eggs so this chicken is  dual purpose chicken breed. A hen can lays approximately 170 eggs in a year. This is not as much as othe rdual puprose chciken such as Rhode Island or New Hampshire Red.  The hen also start laying eggs at day 165 or six month. This is a fast layer like Rhode Island Red.

The hen is not go brody. the Vorwerk hen seldom hatch its eggs. they just let the egg after laying it. 

Barnevelder – double laced feather chicken from Netherland

Barnevelder is a chicken breed from Netherland. Weighing 6-7 pounds, it is heavy chicken class. Netherland breeder has bred this chicken from various chicken breed such as Brahma, Cochin, and Croad Langshan. Some breeder also breeds with other chicken breed to produce various chickens.
This chicken is very beautiful. Some Barnevelder has double laced feather that is very rare. There are other variations color such as, blue, double laced blue, white, brown, partridge, and other. The chicken has single medium comb. The feet are yellow in color and have no feather.
This chicken is for exhibition. The chicken also produces good carcass and eggs. The hen lays dark brown eggs. The hen lay in winter too. The hen can produce approximately 180-200 eggs per year.
The chicken is a good forager so it can be good at your backyard. The chicken is also hardy in winter so this chicken can live at your backyard.

Chantecler: A Various Cross Chicken from Canada

Chantecler is a chicken breed from Canada. The name was taken from French pet Rostand’s fable hero. The name Chantecler was also taken from two French words, “chanter” – “to sing” and “clair” – “bright” .It looks fat like American Class Chicken. This chicken is derived from so many chickens, such as, Dark Cornish, White Leghorn, Rhode Island Red, White Plymouth Rocks and White Wyandotte. Not surprisingly, the chicken can lays egg much and produce good carcass. This chicken is produced for dual purpose chicken. The breeder also develops the egg production. A good Chantecler strain hen can lays up to 210 eggs a year. The skin of the egg is light brown in color and weighs 58 to 60 grams.
The production of the chicken has begun in 1907 in Canada. In 1930, the breeder developed a new Chantecler that is adaptable with free range. The breeder cross Partridge Wyandotte, Partridge Cochin, Dark Cornish, and Brown leghorn whose has Rose comb.
This chicken has heavy weigh body. The rooster’s weight could reach 8.5 pound or 3.9 kg; while, the hen weighs 6.5-7.5 pound (3 – 3.4 kg). Chantecler also has bantam version too which weigh is less than a kilogram. It is white in color. The skin, beak, and the feet are yellow in color. There is no feather in feet or clean feet. It has small cushion combs and wattles so frostbite cannot attack this chicken.
This chicken is suitable for free range chicken. This chicken is tame and gentle. This chicken is adaptable with North America weather too. This chicken can stand with cold climate.

Rhode Island White

Rhode Island White is not famous as their brother Rhode Island Red, but it has been recognized by American Poultry Association (APA) in 1922. Like the Red, this chicken is dual purpose. The chicken bring White rose comb Leghorn, White Wyandottes, and Partridge Cochin. Therefore this chicken has two type comb : single and rose comb. 

The cock weighs 8.5 lbs (3.6 kilos); while, the hen weighs 6.5 lbs (3 kilos). Now, the chicken is very rare because the breeder does not want to care this breed. Perhaps they prefer the Red.

The body is fat like most American Class chicken. They have brick-rice appearance  like the Red. The cock tail is curve short like Cochin. The breast deep, full, and round.

Some breeder also cross the white with the red that result Red Sex Links Hybrid Chicken.

It has good reputation in laying, The hen could lays up to 306 eggs in year or similar with Rhode Island Red. It can lay in winter too. This chicken is easy to going and pleasant so it is good for backyard farm.
