White Sumatra: a variant of Sumatra Chicken

My father has raised some white Sumatra that comes from dark hen and black white roosters. Perhaps rosters or the hen has derived some white plumage genetics to its chick. I love the white chicken and it is better than its parents.
Though the standard perfection does not recognize White Sumatra but there is some Sumatra chicken. If you walk to Sumatra, you can find it. The white is nit different to black or the blue. They have long tail and longer body. However my chicken’s tail is not long as the common Sumatra. The tails does not touch the land. The head is medium size with the small pea above its head. The face color is red blood and there is no plumage in the head. They have featherless yellow shanks. The chicken is not a fighter. They must be loss when they side a pit chicken.
The chicken is not tame because my father rise in free range. It is very difficult to catch the chicken. We can catch the chicken when they enter their coop. if we chase the chicken, they will run to the garden. The hen is a god sitter. The color of egg shell is cream. The hen can lays up to 12 eggs in a clutch. The hen hatch the eggs alone and raise the chick alone.
The Sumatra may be not good as the chicken exhibition because the color is not good as the black or blue. It has just single spurs. My father chicken is not special like Sumatra chicken in United States. He raise it for the meat stock only. My father raises it in free range. He just feed the chicken with pollard and some rice. They find the feed n the ground. They must get the various chicken feed such as grass, weed, cricket, insect, worm and else.

Aachen Lacquer Shield Owl Pigeon: The Exhibit Bird From Aachen

The bird is also the rock pigeon descent or Columba livia. The bird comes from Aachen, German.  Since Aachen not far from Dutch, the bird may be related to Dutch Turbit. Either Aachen or Dutch has plain headed.
Actually, the bird is a flying pigeon but they turn as the exhibit bird or show bird. The bird performance is similar to rock pigeon especially its size. The bird has small crested that is actually a small frill neck. The foot color is read without feather or clean legged.

They have short beak that similar to quail. Upper the beak, there is a small wattle that color is pink.  The beak reminds me to Tumbler pigeon that can fly acrobat in the sky.
The color pattern is like magpie. The plumage color is all white except its wing shield. The variation of wing shield color is   black, yellow, and red. There is no duns color. Perhaps the breeder does not like the duns variation. The size is medium or around 330 gram that as height as Columba livia or rock pigeon.
The bird is very rare in United States. Perhaps the bird has no special characters that attract the hobbyist. The bird has just beautiful plumage only. I do not know whether the bird is also has beautiful sound.

The Blue Sumatra - Very rare Chicken

Sumatra is recognized as the show Chicken in The United States whose has black beautiful plumage. The other uniqueness of the chicken is the multi spurs or the chicken has more than one spur. The tail is also long that touch the land or long flowing tail like crescent shape. The chicken is also graceful carriage.
The head is smalls and has black and red face. There is a small pea comb at the top of its head. The earlobes color is dark tinted.
There are not difference that black to the blue Sumatra unless its plumage. To be honest I have never know the blue variant of the Sumatra. The American Standard Perfection in 2002 also recognizes the Blue as the variant of the Sumatra Chicken.  The blue is very rare color variant.  I believe we must be difficult to find the blue at the origin. I have never found it at my village. By the way my village is north Sumatra.
The plumage is blue that cover the chicken. The color is almost similar to grey.  Sometimes we can also the splash color that is almost similar to the Blue. The Blue rosters weigh 5 lbs while, the hen weigh 4lbs.  The younger rosters or cockerel weigh 4 lbs while the pullet is 3 ½ lbs in weigh. The chicken is bad meat producer.
The blue lays tinted eggs. Like the black the blue also does not lays many eggs. I think the egg production is not more than 60 a years.
Perhaps the blue is black Sumatra and white Sumatra cross. I do not know exactly about it. We do not recognize the white variation. I believe in Sumatra there is white plumage variation. My mother had raise a white Sumatra hen that has so much chick.

What are made a coop stinky?

Chicken is a living creature and every living creature produces manure. Therefore, if you want to raise chickens we must prepare for the smell of chicken manure.
Cages will smell because chickens will produce manure. Other odors produced are due to spillage of food mixed with water. This odor will disturb not only us but also other people. Your neighbors will complain if you smell cage.

Chickens that live in cages will produce odors that more than chickens reared at free range.
For that you should clean the cage daily. If we cage is good then we can draw the base enclosure and then swept it clean. To reduce odor, we could douse with carbolic fragrance.
To avoid chicken always spilled feed, we can tie up the feed on the cage wall. Chickens will not be able to withdraw feed and spilled feed. Chickens have a habit of pawing the floor fodder to select the feed. If the feeder bound and is higher than her feet can not shed the chicken feed.
Although we are diligent in cleaning there is still a smell produced by the chickens. It is impossible so we clean the chicken coop produce manure. Therefore we have to put the chicken coop in a place away from the man so the smell does not smell.
