A Reflection on a Mistake: My Aggressive Hen

 

I once raised a hen that showed unexpected aggression. The hen black bettle color and also tall. At first, I didn’t realize the seriousness of her behavior. But soon, she began kicking the roosters — one of them even suffered an eye injury. I was shocked. Later, she also hurt her own chick. That was when I realized something was deeply wrong.

 

Looking back, I now understand that the problem started with my own mistake. I had placed the hen in a narrow cage, which likely made her feel stressed or territorial. That tight space may have triggered her aggression. I did not the size exatcly for the hen but the other chicken was comfort use the pen. I regret not noticing the warning signs earlier. I should have trimmed her nails or separated her sooner to avoid injuries.

 

I also suspect that the hen came from a village where chickens are allowed to roam freely. In those settings, hens may be less aggressive because they have more space and freedom. In contrast, keeping her confined likely increased her stress and caused this behavior.

 

For a moment, I considered “de-toeing” — removing the claws — but I soon realized it would be cruel. Besides, I didn’t have the proper tools, nor the antiseptic to avoid infection or tetanus. The practice of “de-toeing” is common in commercial chciken farm.

 

In the end, I made the difficult decision to replace the hen with another. Eventually, I put the aggressive hen down, not out of anger, but out of responsibility. It was not a pleasant experience, but I learned something important: as an animal owner, we must provide a proper environment and always observe early signs of stress or danger.

This experience taught me to be more careful, more thoughtful, and more responsible in caring for animals. Mistakes can hurt — not just ourselves, but also the creatures under our care.

Raise Chicken in landfill

 i took the photo at the landfill, where there is a lot waste and rubiish on there. this place is a transift before any rubbish dump in final place. there are so many plastic that you can see at the photo. you must be difficult to find any chicken in this photo. 

It is common prcatice in underdeveloped country to raise chicken or cattle in landfill. it is cheaper than raise chicken in the flock. 

There are some risk raise chicken in the landfil such as: 

1. disease transmition. the landfill is full of disease. the chicken eat the rubbish may bring some danger diseases such as salmonellea and avian flu

2.the lack of nutrition . rubbish is bad food and lack of nutirion. 

3. i believe there is such toxic in landfill. the pestiside can kill the chciken. 

4. the chicken also spread the waste. they use the feed to find but it spread the waste 

5. Either the Meat and the egg is not health. what chicken eat influence the meat and egg quality. 

My chicken plucks its own feather

 

I feel so pity my chicken pluck its own feather. It also eats the feather. I feel so guilty to see my chicken done it. Is suspect I have some mistake in raising them. Well, I raise in large enough coop. the air is so fresh but I cannot guarantee the air quality of my town is good. There are so many factory and vehicles that make the air is so bad.

Raise a chicken or some chicken in my house is not suitable. The weather is so hot. It sunny season and the rain is so low. The extreme of weather make the chicken pluck their own feather.

Actually, the house is little. We are lack of the free space. I dream someday I have large enough house where I can raise two or three chicken at there.

There is some reason why chicken pluck their own feather. One reason is mites and parasites. The mites make the chicken discomfort. The chicken plucks the feather in order to remove the mites from its feather.

Some chicken just gets one kind of chicken feed that is lack of nutrients. They chicken eat its feather in order to fulfil the nutrient need. The owner should provide various chicken feed or they can raise the chicken at free range that provide so many chicken feed. At the limited place, a chicken just receive food from it’s own master. Sometimes we find the owner just feed them with rice or pollard only.

Live in limited place also make the chicken bore. They become stressed. The chicken usually lives in a group or pen, where they can interact to other and it make them happy. With limited place they can go to anywhere and find some food out there. Plucking its own feather make them have a job to reduce its stress. Certainly, it hurt them.

The civet is a dangerous predator that can kill chicken. My friend said that the civet bite the duck and bring the duck to the tree and the civet kill the duck.
I have so much chicken that live at free range. My chicken is also killed. I know That the chicken stay at the tree. It become an easy target for the civet. I guess that the civet attack the chicken when they sit on the tree branch.
The is a clever animal. They have the small and short feet but they are able to run fast. It is difficult to catch the civet unless the baby civet. Civet like raccoon that can adapted to city live. They live at the roof or empty house. They can breed fast.

The civet can walk at the electric cable. I have ever seen they walk and make a loudly sound like a ghost. I am afraid hear that animal.Sometimes they can "cry" like a small girl.
Civet have ever tried killed my lovely bird. My bird that sit on the floor and the civet bite the feet. I feel pity my bird lose its feet.
We must protect the chicken from the civet. we can make the good hose for the chicken . Be sure to close the door. The civet usually use the narrow gap at your chicken pen. You can also trap the civet and you can remove the chicken to the jungle.
The Civet can kill the large bird such as turkey. They just eat some part of the bird such as neck and head. They do not eat the entire chicken.
Some people say that civet do not kill the chicken for food but they kill the chicken for pleasure.
