Cross the Spotted Dove With Fan Tail pigeon

I have ever raise Spotted Dove (Spilopoa Chinese) in my  house. Most of them released from my bird cage . This bird is the family of rock dove too. It is a common practice to cross the bird with common pigeon or rock dove. The result is spotted dove that is more tame than the spotted dove. The hybrid is also bugger than the spotted but the sound is louder than thespitted dove.

The spotted dove also cross to Eurasian Ring Neck Pigeon that also result the better bird. Either The spotted and Ring Neck are nervous. They may hit the cage when you approach them. 

I wonder to cross the Spotted with Indian Fan Tail Pigeon or American Pigeon Tail that result amazing Fan Tail Spotted dove. I have not found the spotted Dove Fan Tail. It must be rare breed and it must be expensive. 

I am very doubt to produce it because the fan tail is a recessive gen. I have heard that cross common pigeon to the fantail result the hybrid that is similiar to common pigeon. It must be difficult to get the fan tail from the pigeon. 

Perhaps cross the hybrid with the fab tail pigeon may produce the fan tail too. I do not know . Perhaps one day I should try it. 

Mandarin Duck : The Famous Oriental Duck

This duck is a beautiful ornamental duck.We can raise this bird at your house. Facilitate the duck with poll so they can swim at there.

They have beautiful brown feather while the female has bad color. Unlike other duck, either drake and hen care the duckling until the duckling independent. Se this lens and give the thumb for this lens. You can also buy the duck egg here and you can hatch the duck with incubator.

Mandarin Duck is a famous ornamental duck from Chinese. As where its get name, this bird origin is Chinese but we can find this bird at Russia or Japan. This bird is also found at the British, Ireland, and United States. It has beautiful brown color. There are small part of green beetle feather at wing and shoulder. The breast color is white. There is some white color at face and wing. This duck has unique feather that similar to chicken sickle at upper neck. The duck bill is red light in color and short. Some Mandarin also has albino variations with white color but the beak is still red in color.

This duck is small with slender and shorter body which is only 41-49 cm in long include the tail. The male is heavier than the female.

The female color is very bad. The color is dull brown with black spot. The beak color is also black unlike the male.

Both duck spend their time at water or water bank. They find food at the water such as small water plant. This water bird is a smart hunter too. The female lays the eggs at tree cavity. They incubate the eggs for four weeks or 28 days. Mandarin female is not different with other duck female that incubate egg alone without Male assistance.

If you want care this beautiful bird, you have to provide pool so they can swim at there. You can feed them with game bird feed, small fish, vegetable and others.

Green Java Peacock : The East Java mascot bird

Java Green Peacock (Pavo Muticuus) is a beautiful bird in the world. They are found in East Java Savanna. Green peacock is also found in Myanmar and Malaysia Peninsula. Java Peacock has beautiful green light plumage and it is different to Indian and Chinese peacock which has blue plumage.

The Java has longer neck, longer legs, longer crest and slender body than other peacock. Peacock use its long shanks to expel the predator like snake.The color of the bird is green hence with its name; meanwhile the female color is dull green-grey. The neck plumage is golden green. The train tail is very beautiful. The cock exhibit or fan the train tail like fan to attract the hen. The train pattern like green eyes. That is why only beautiful color male can get the hen.

If you want care it, you need to build a large pen. The bird need at least 400 square feet. Provide them with shelter that keep them from rain and sunny.

The male length is 3 meters including train plumage, weight five kg (11 lbs). The female is 1.1 meter, weight three kilogram (6 lbs). The hen can lay 4-8 eggs a season. Only the hen incubate the eggs for 26 days.

The male often repeated a loud call ki-wao; meanwhile the female has call aow-aa.

They are found in savanna. It lives with Java wild bull (Boss Javanicus). It finds food at it like grain, grass edge, fruit, and insect.

This species is endangered species and protected by Indonesian law because the number of species is becoming rarely. The IUCN also lists this species including as vulnerable to extinction. Indonesian government built Meru Betiri National Park In East Java for Peacock and wild bull habitat. We can watch the bird play in savanna. People hunts this bird for meat and beautiful plumage. The plumage is traded at market.

Rarely we find the breeder raise the bird in Indonesia. It because the fowl is so expensive. On the other hand, American is success to breed this bird.

Crowned Goura: Pigeon that has crown

This pigeon is bit different with rock pigeon due to its crown. The crown feather likes a fan which is blue and white in color. The beak is black dark and the eye is red in color. There is small triangle that surrounds its eye.  The feather is dominantly blue; meanwhile, the wing is red maroon in color. It is difficult to different the sex because both female and male look same. However, the male usually has larger than the female.

They live at lowland jungle at Papua, Indonesia. This bird is terrestrial bird that find the food at the land.

This is the largest pigeon. It is 70 cm in length.

The female just lays one egg that is why this becomes rare. Both parents will hatch the baby for 30 days. They make nest at tree.

The illegal hunting decreases its population. People hunt it for its meat and beautiful feather.
