Marsh Daisy

It is an English chicken breed that descendant of Old English Game rosters and The Malay Hen. Some breed also tied with Marsh Daisy includes Sicilian Buttercup, Black Hamburg and White Leghorn. The name Marsh daisy comes from its come that similar to Marsh Daisy flower. The comb is similar to Rose comb. The other unique characteristics are willow green legs and white earlobes. The marsh name takes from a marsh-like area. 
The most common of Marsh Daisy is wheaten and brown and others color variation is white, buff and black. The chicken is light type of chicken, a male is 2.95 kilogram (6.5 pound) in weight and a female is 2.5 kilogram (5.5 pound). The hen lays a fair amount of tinted eggs.
 It is ideal for barnyard chicken due it is a good forager and it is hardy. It could control the grass or weed population. I must warn you the chicken has flying ability so it can jump from your backyard; however, the chicken is calm but it is active.
The chicken is rare, listing at Rare BreedSurvival Trust at England.

How to hatch Egg Duck

To increase your duck, you need to hatch the duck eggs. For some breeder it is not difficult to hatch duck. It will took 28 days or four week.

1.  If you care a group duck that contain drake and hen, collect the eggs. You can let the hen hatch the eggs. Provide the nest box for the hen. You can make wooden box or card box. Fill the box with hay. The hay help the hen to heat the eggs. The benefit of using hen is that the hen can care the duckling until mature.

2. If the duck does not want to hatch the eggs, you  can use chicken hen. For example, most Indian runner does not want to hatch its eggs. Some chicken hen is the best incubator. You should find the hen that lay some eggs. Replace the chicken eggs with the duck eggs. The chicken is not clever so it hatch the duck eggs. notice: if the hen know you replace its eggs, it may break the duck eggs.

3. Some breeder use incubator machine. You can buy incubator machine too. If you have much eggs, you need to buy a big incubator machine. Turn on the light for 28 days or four week. Further, read the manual book of incubator machine. After hatch, let the chicken stay at incubator machine for 24 hours. You do not need to feed them for first day.

4. You can hatch the duck egg with rice husk. In Alabio district (Kabupaten Alabio) , South Borneo, Indonesia. People use to hatch duck eggs with rice husk. They put rice husk in big basket and let duck eggs hatch. This is way is cheap way because we do not need any energy.

You can use any method that you like. For backyard farm, I suggest you use duck hen to incubate the duck eggs.

How to select hatch egg

If you want to care chicken, you can hatch the egg chicken. Put some eggs in incubator for 21 days or three weeks and you will get some chick. Hatching eggs is cheaper than buying chick or chicken but you should work hard to hatch it.

Hatching egg is not easy especially for common people. They often face with fail. The egg will not hatching after 21 years weather the incubator work well. One factor of

The fail of hatching is the egg. The hatchery cannot select the good hatching eggs.

Therefore, a hatchery supposedly selects the good eggs for hatching. You can follow these steps:

1. The egg should be clean from manure

2. The egg should be oval round in shape. Do not select round egg or very oval egg. It is not good

3. The egg is not old than seven days or a week.

4. Be sure the egg come from a credible farmer.

5. The weight should be normal. The chicken eight weights depend on the breed or strain, ranging 25 gram to 60 gram.

6. The egg shield should be good. Check the egg shield of chicken first. Be sure there is no a crack at the egg shield. A disease or bacteria can enter through small crack and kill the chicken embryo.

7. Be sure that you hatch the right breed. For example, you want to hatch layer eggs so you should be sure the egg come from layer egg breed.

8. Be sure the eggs fertile. Ask the farmer whether the egg or fertile or not.

The domesticated process increase the ancestor quality

For more than ten thousand year, people have risen the chicken. Today, we can find hundreds strain of chicken which have different characteristics. Some chicken has different character to their ancestors, Gallus gallus bankiva or red jungle fowl but some domesticated still has the ancestors character like its feather, performance, or size.

In my country, people care Sumatra native chicken. American breed association named it Sumatra Chicken. The performance is similar with red jungle fowl but the Sumatra is heavier than the ancestors. It cannot fly high as the ancestors. The native Sumatra can lay up to 16 eggs; on the other hand, the red jungle fowl lay only seven eggs.

Some domesticated is heavier than the ancestors. For example Rhode Island red that is 4.5 kg weight or  four to five times the ancestors weight. It is because they do not have to fly again. People also feed the chicken with high quality food.

The feather of domesticated bird is also more beautiful than the ancestor. There are various kind of feather shape i.e. frizzle, silky, featherless. and others. The color of feather is not only red partridge. The domesticated have many color variations such as, black, white, calico, green partridge, buff, black green, and others.

In people's hand, the chicken is more productive than the ancestors. A red jungle fowl can lay up to 50 eggs in a year in forest but a domesticated can lay up to 300 eggs in a year.

The increasing quality caused by selecting process for more than thousands year. People tend to care the best breed whose has beautiful feather, nice song, prolific, short body, weight, and other.
