My Grandfather's turkey have not laid egg

 My grandfather brought at least three turkey that consist a tom and two hens. He love raising so many pet. At his house., he had so many bird such as chicken. The chicken that i remember is Vietnamese bald neck chicken. Either roster and hen are bald neck . The chicken was also bald neck that made me laugh.. The bird that provide the egg is Indian runner. At least my grandpa also had thirty Indian runner duck. I remember there is a black that is similar to Cayuga duck. There is also a flock  geese .

I love live at my grandparents house. The problem is the turkey have not lay the eggs. I suspected the seller sold the sterile hen that cannot lay any eggs. At the time, merely people risen turkey because they could not cook the turkey. On the other hand , chicken is simple to cook.

I browsed and find some reason that the make turkey do not lay eggs. the article said that turkey lays egg at 7 month. i believe my grandfather turkey has reach maturity but it have nit laid egg.

Using the Turkey Tail Feather as the Pen

 My friend of my friend used the turkey tail feather for pen. he written the book with it. Certainly, the feather just for the ballpoint casing only. He did not use it as fountain ink pen that is used by the people who live before 18th century. 

To me it is very nice and its attract the other people. People want to use it. Unfortunately, finding the turkey feather is not easy. my country is not United States where we can easily find turkey at there. my friend of my friend  get the feather from its own turkey. he had at least a group that contain a silver color male and two hen. Unfortunately, the turkey had not lay egg until he remove from the town. 

I am afraid that the turkey is sterile. I remember that grandfather also has a group of turkey that never lays any egg. perhaps the Indonesian hot climate is not fit with the turkey. Today we easily find this bird in Indonesia too.

Back to the feather story, i saw the male Muscovy duck has big feathe too. i got from the  duck. the wing cpover fteaher is so long that similiar to turkey but the shape is not straight as the turkey feather. i cut the edge and replace it with the ballpoin refill and i enjoy using it. 

How to raise turkey

A turkey can stay in your backyard too and you can breed this large bird to produce Turkey's meat. It is not difficult to breed the bird if you know about it.
Before, you decide to raise the bird, you should examine your environment. Are your house is close to your neighbor. Some people cant stand with its scream. The tom often make loud sound that may disturb your neighbor. Some municipality also forbids the citizen to raise any bird.

If you sure, you want to breed turkey turkey you can do like the steps;

1. Provide a comfort house for the turkey. The house can protect them from rainy and sunny.
2. Buy the tom and the hen. Turkey cannot breed without is spouse. The asexual reproduction turkey is a bullshit. A Hen need The Tom for breeding. The sexing of turkey is not difficult because each Tom and Hen is different.
3. Feed the bird with nutritious food. It can help the bird to mature.
4. Let the turkey mate. The hen will lays some eggs when it reach eight month. Some turkey breed can match naturally but some others cannot. They need artificial insemination. That is why you should choose the turkey that can breed aurally.
5. Let the hen hatch the eggs or you can collect the eggs and hatch i by incubator. The eggs will hatch in 21-28 eggs. Lets the hen raise the pout or you can also raise the poult.

Bronze Turkey : Famous turkey that has grown two times

All of Turkey breed have been domesticated from wild turkey in America. Some Europe trader brought turkey to Europe. One of famous domesticated turkey is Bronze Turkey that has two types’ i.e. standard and Giant.

As guest its name, the Bronze has bronze plumage. The edge of tail feather color is white strips. The breast color is shinny black bronze. In my opinion, it is a most beautiful turkey.
The feather is not different to the wild turkey. However the domestication makes the bird fatter than the wild turkey. People loves broad breast so they just raise broad breast. The breeder also improves the meat quality and the growth. They want to produce the fast grow turkey.
The breeder cross the wild turkey to domesticated European turkey. They do it in order to get the heavier turkey than the wild turkey and the tamer turkey than the wild. The Bronze cannot mate naturally but the breeder should use artificial insemination. The breeder take the sperm and inject to the hen’s cloaca.

How to raise Poults or baby Turkey

Raising poult is profitable and fast. In four month, you can get the turkey that wieighs at least three kilorams . To get heavier turkey, you can raise  it longer. You can eat it or sell it. Raising this bird is not much  different to chicken.

First, you need a broader cage for the poults. The poult can use this cage up to two weeks. Than, you can remove the poults to common turkey pen. To make the chicken warm, you should add light. Fits the light with the weather. If the weather cold, you should use hotter light. Maintenance the temperature inside the cage aroun 90 degree Fahreinheit. Put pine straw below the brooder to keep the chick warm.

Feed the poulth with starter for game bird turkey. In my country, a farmer just used the factory chicken food. He mis the factory with seed like red rice, corn, and other seed. They need at least 28% protein. This is the great  

You can care the bird outside the cage or backyard. Let the bird eat at pasteur. They may eat grass, insect, worm and others. Fence your backyard, so they will not run. Some turkey can fly. You need to build the fence.  

Put the waterer inside the pen. Water is very essential for the poult. Keep the waterer clean. Put marble to waterer and feederer to attract the bird to drink and eat. Purchase those tools at farming supply store.

You should often check the pen. Perhaps the chicken get trouble with the feeder or waterer. You can improve those tools.

Redulary check the pen or the house of the poult. Clean the cage periodically. Use disinfectant if necessary. Do not let the cage dirty and stinky. The bird will sick if you let the pen dirty.

Vaccine the bird to protect from dangerous disease such as Newcastle Disease (ND) and Avian Flu (AI).
