American Giant Runt : The greatest Squab

You must be confused when you see this giant bird because it weighs

three times of common pigeon. The Giant Runt may be the greatest

pigeon in the world. This American breed pigeon weighs up to 1.4

kilogram or almost three times bantam chicken weight.

I thin the pigeon provide s much squab. That is why the bird is raise

for its meat. Actually the bird comes from Spain and France. The word

of Runt means common but this bird is not "common".

The bird is not different to its ancestor or the rock dove except its

size. The head is large, massive broad, denoting strength and

boldness. The beak is wide and fairly thick. The wattles are not big

like other fancies pigeon. The most pigeon eyes is pearl except the

white whose has bull color eye.

The bird has medium size in length. The wing span is also medium. That

is why, the fancier do not love the bird for homing. The body of the

runt is also broad. The bird provides the deep and brad breast meat.

The shank and toes are red in color. The Giant Runt color is blue,

silver, Dunn, yellow, white, grizzle, blue grizzle, black, white, blue

bar and other.

People slaughter it at thirty days age. The bird is very big and beyond the bantam size. The famous of King Pigeon color is white. The other color variation is brown and blue. People prefer White King because the flesh is pinkish. It has full breast and U shape body.

2. Carneau

This is a utility pigeon bird from Northern France and Southern Belgium. This bird has potential as the squab producer. This breed is smaller than King pigeon. It has big head compared to its body. The feather tail is short and narrow.

3. American Giant Runt.

It was developed in United States. The breeder has crossed some pigeon breed to get heavy utility pigeon bird. They have color variation such as white, black, dun, yellow blue, silver, brown, and more. It has full breast.

4. French Mondain

This looks fat pigeon was originated in Mondain, France. The plumage is very thick. There are two breeds of French Mondain: The American and The French. The body of the bird is round like a chicken hen. The tail is short and narrow. The head is small compared to its body. French Mondain pigeons have color variation like blue, brown, buff, white and more.

Some breeder still crossbreeds various pigeon to get heavy and delicious flesh. Someday, they will find other utility pigeon breed.

Carneau Pigeon : Utility Pigeon From French

As guess its name, Red Carneau is a pigeon that comes from Carneau, French. Beside red color, Carneau also has some variations such as white, black, and grey. The Carneau is a utility pigeon that people raise it for its meat or Squab. The breeder raise the pigeon chick only 30 days. Carneau has white pinkish skin.
The pigeon look is not different with its ancestor rock pigeon. It has small head, relative to its body. The beak is pink and short with small nose upper its beak. The eye is yellow in color.
The body is slender. It has wide breast that contain delicious meat. The feather is tight. The feet are red in color and there is no feather on it.

Carneau weighs 640 - 740 gram. It is two times of rock pigeon weighs or similar to bantam chicken. A 30 days Carneau chick weighs 330 -340 gram or half of its parent. The Carneau is a medium utility pigeon.
