Lady Amherst Pheasant : Colorful Pheasant from Asia

Lady Amherst Pheasant is a pheasant family to like Golden Pheasant. The hobbyist often crosses the lady with Golden pheasant.  The performance is similar to other pheasant family which has slim and slender body. The tail feather beyond two-third of the bird long.

The feather is beautiful with beautiful long tail feather. It is hard to explain the color of the bird.  The upper head is red light in color. Below eye and the beak, we can see black color like bread. The front neck feather is black edge green light in color toward to breast, while, the back neck is black edge silver. The shoulder is blue light in color. The wing that covers the body color is black beetle in color; while the breast is white in color.
The iris eye is white in color. The beak and feet color is gray. The male has spurs like rooster.

How to cut nail bird

I had a hen that could not brood the chicken. In few weeks, her chicken must be died. I had seen the chicken suffered before died. The eye is infected. Finally, I know that the hen hurt the chicken. I tried cutting the nail but it was not enough. She still injured the chick. Finally we slaughter the chicken.
Nail is important for the bird. It helps bird to find diet in nature. In nature, a bird does not need to cut the nail because the nail cannot longer because they scratch to ground.
In the cage, a bird nail can increase. As I mention above, the long nail can hurt other chicken. It could hurt its chicken too. Therefore, you need to cut the nail. Here are some steps:
1. Catch the bird gently. Do not make the bird or chicken afraid. You can touch the head so the bird calm. You have better ask your friend to hold the bird.
2. Cut the nail with nail cut. Be careful. Do not cut the nail near the finger. It is harm to the bird.
3. After cutting, you can release the bird the cage.
4. Disinfectant the tools or nail scissors. 
You need to prepare cutting nail, antiseptic, and others. If the nail hurt you can give the chicken antiseptic

Bring Cassowary to our backyard

When I was study in animal husbandry, my lecture was conducting discourse about Cassowary farm. He said Cassowary is good for farm too. It is 175 cm tall. The weight could reach 58.5 kg or ten times common domesticated chicken. He protested to a farm that import Ostrich from another country. Finally, the farm is closed because the bird died. Anthrax killed the bird.

I think we can care this bird too in our backyard as long we have large bakcyard. Fence the backyard with metal wire. The diet of the bird is insect, flower, fungi, frog, mice, rats and so on. In my friend hostel backyard, The owner feed them with rice. I think we can feed them with common poultry feed too.

I suggest Indonesia that has cassowary domesticated this bird. It can give two benefit : i.e. bird conservation and jobs for unemployment.
