Sentul Chicken : The Dual purpose Chicken from Ciamis

Indonesia has so many chicken variety. The chicken also has multi color too. It ia because Indonesia ia also a home for Chicken ancestor or red jungle fowl. There is a double purpose chicken which mean could produce either meat or egg. 

This chicken is very unique due, it is grey plumage. Some believe the Chicken is the descendants of snake. Of course , it is just a myth . The genetics not the snake cannot mixed with chicken genetics. This chicken is an excellent landrace chicken variety. There are some excellent chicken beside Sentil such as Pelung, Kedu, Merawang, and others.

Unfortunately, Indonesia breeders has not make standard of any landrace chicken. Most landrace chicken live at the village. The village people who raise the chicken do not care of the breed. The important that they have chicken that can be changed with money. There is no serious try to fix the standard of the chicken. 

I hope the government help to develop the chicken for people. I am sure the people want to breed the chicken as long they get incentive. The local government supposedly provide the chick also make some workshop to introduce the chicken.
